The Flying Horse Ranch has long been a special site for equestrian activities. Lydia’s main interest is 3-day eventing and in 1997, after moving from her ranch in Carbondale, CO, where she had successfully run horseback riding day camps, she began a program of one- and two-week horseback camps. While we do not do summer camps at this time, we have held numerous clinics (English and Western) and United States Pony Club events. Consider holding your own clinic at a unique venue!
Our facilities are set up to accommodate up to 20 horses in private paddocks. We have two scenic cross country courses from elementary to training level with banks, ditches and water complexes.
Our 100×200 riding arena is a mix of sand and crumb rubber and we have various stadium jumps.
There are numerous trails on and near the ranch and the majestic Flat Tops Wilderness Area is within a short trailer ride.We provide camping facilities (including kitchen cabin and campfire ring) at the lake or we can accommodate your living-quarters horse trailer. Our tepee is always available and will sleep 6-8 easily.
The Flying Horse Ranch is located 25 miles south of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. So come to the mountains for a few days of relaxation with your horse. The ranch is an ideal venue for riding groups, or just a few friends. We cater to individuals, couples or small groups of equestrians who just want to spend a few days in the mountains with their horses… get out of the heat in the city. It will be a vacation you won’t soon forget!
