The Grand Valley Pony Club from Grand Junction, CO, visited the Flying Horse Ranch again this summer in August for the third (or was it the fourth?) year. It’s very hot in Grand Junction in August and even when we think it is hot here, they get great relief from the desert heat here in the mountains! There are usually anywhere from 10-15 kids and various parents and siblings, some of whom bring their own horses for some trail riding. They bring their fun-loving trainer, Cricket Donoho, who keeps them all so busy that the kids sleep all the way back home (and the horses too). The GJ moms do a fabulous job with organization and meals and the non-riders keep busy with the various activities offered here at the ranch and in Steamboat. We’re already looking forward to their return next summer because they are such great guests!
